-----Original
Thought I'd mention this, as it seems like something that would appeal
to auditeers. Former The Grip, Wildhearts, Honeycrack and
Sugarplumfairies singer/multi-instrumentalist Willie Dowling has
relaunched himself, along with his new band Jackdaw4. From the clips
I've heard so far, I'm hearing quite a few powerpop parallels. In
fact, it can only be described as powerpop, I think. I'd be surprised
if it didn't appeal to Owsley fans.

You can hear four tracks from the new album here:

The band's website is http://www.jackdaw4.com/
Matt.

Got this from their website last week and have listened at least ten times.
If this isn't officially released till next year then it'll have to be in my top 10 for 2005.
Great Jellyfish influence, and some SMiLE influence on a few cuts.

I think/hope SMiLE will do for modern music what good digital home recorders
did for musicians:let more interesting music come to light, and allow
for experiments in chord structure, arrangement, orchestration, as well as a return to
long, beautiful lines of melody.
