To make a good sounding master tape sound like a vinyl recording is dumb. Im
not against adding any extra EQ or a little compression. I've done it many
times to my own mix SOTT CD's to make the vinyl dubs match the volume
alongside
the digtal recordings. It all depends on the recording.

Which is true, but most oldies artists still dont have any control over thier
catalog is mastered and repackaged. I remember Jan Berry in an inteview a few
years ago trashing the way EMI remixed his 60's hits.

I can understand why most under 35 yr olds wont listen to AM. AM radio is
obsolete technology and unless theres a successful way to digitally clean up
the noise (IBOC isnt great, trashes the analog signal, but its a start) I
doubt
most low watt AM stations will be around in 10-to-30 years.
