@@It's not that I think the RRHOF deserves to be taken seriously, it's just
another opportunity to air opinions on who SHOULD be honored.

Taking Carl's list (and cue) more as discussion on the artists he mentions
rather then on the Hall of Fame (Interesting and cool list Carl) .

@@THE SEX PISTOLS and Iggy Pop are not in.

OK, honestly, I don't pay ANY attention to the RnR Hall of Fame, nor think
it matters in the least. (Not that anyone but me cares but my first post on
the matter said as much, but it got hung up in cyber space). But, still this
surprises me. I would guess they both would get in someday but probably
Nirvana will get in first. Which would be silly, in terms of impact and
influence. Ooops, I'm talking about the Hall...

@@ JOHNNY BURNETTE'S ROCK 'N' ROLL TRIO

OK, true confession...Teacher, who is this? I think I was out sick that
day. Can you tell me more?

Well, just to point out two of many you picked out....
@@PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS (also honring songwriters Mann and Weil)
THE EASYBEATS

Like many others, these great bands not only won't ever get in, they won't
ever even be a thought in anyone's mind.

@@ MICHAEL NESMITH
I've been wondering where to start with Michael, any suggestions, anyone?

@@ JONATHON RICHMAN & THE MODERN LOVERS

I've been listening to my favorite Jonathon Richman disc a lot lately. I
loved the JR back in the day and had all the Beserkley albums. So which one
is the best? Is it the critic's beloved first album by them with the
prepunk sounds? Nope. Is it the live album per how great Jonathon is live?
Nope. How about discs with the classic songs "Ice Cream Man" or "Dodge
Veg-o-matic"? Nope. OK, trick question right, it's must be "The best of
JR" from the Beserkley Years. Nope, sorry, while it has great songs on it,
it "feels" wrong and uneven (per the distinct differences in his first album
and missing important tracks). The answer is, the best album by a landslide
is "Back in Your Life". I think it is Jonathon in full stride. From the
silly but sweet "I'm Nature's Mosquito", to the pure silly "Party in the
Woods" ("the bears are all there, they are in the pink, they brought their
favorite records, to bad they stink") to earnest and lovely (still with
humor) songs like "Affection" and especially the title track. While not a
perfect album (tales off a bit near the end), it's pretty darn close and
heads above any of the others (IMHO). Anyone agree, disagree?

Steve D.
