Pretty much the entirety of the JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH: NEW WAVE XMAS
disc (curated by Andrew Sandoval) and the ESD reissue of Chris
Stamey's Christmas record are terrific, and there are those (my wife
among them) who think it's not really Christmas until they've heard
Big Star's "Jesus Christ." Also, one of the local college stations
slipped the Blue Orchids' "Mr. Scrooge" (UK girl group classic that's
not at all Xmassy other than the title reference) into a Christmas set
last year, which I thought worked rather wonderfully.
