Hello,
I know the voting hasn't begun yet, but wanted to mention a few CDs that have my attention and may have fell under the radar for many others!
The biggest surprise is the Hindu Rodeo "Nalladaloobr" CD which I only got three weeks ago but have already played a dozen times and it gets better every time. CDBABY has sound clips and that's where I got my copy.
Another favorite is The So and So's "Give Me Drama". I saw this band at the Delaware Pop Festival in April and I have played it practically every other day since the festival! The good people of Boston seem to like them as well since the Phoenix music poll picked this album as #1 Local Album of the Year (is this right Andrea? Stewart?). You can check them out at http://www.soandsos.com.
And third is The Dollyrots "Eat My Heart Out". Arthur Bang gave them high marks at the Nashville IPO and when the CD was released with a free t-shirt, how could I resist? Female fronted punk pop. I've played it only a little less than the So & So's! I love it. May have to get to a future IPO when they're playing!
I'm looking forward to everyone's lists when the voting begins. And I'm hoping to purchase a few more CD's so I can come up with a good Top 20 myself!
And having successfully completed a few trades recently, I now have a current spreadsheet and would like to do some more trading if anyone is interested. Feel free to send me your trade lists offline!
Pop on!
John
np John Hoskinson: Crappy Home Demos (nine song demo he handed out at IPO-LA in 2002. Haven't got the new one, but I definitely want to get it before the voting is over!)
