Funny this thread...

I accidentally happened upon the Fab Four this week on a work trip to Las Vegas. They were playing at the Aladdin outside in their shopping section promo-ing their regular gig and a toys-for-tots like charity thingy. Holy Cow! Incredible note-for-note, nuance-for-nuance, harmony for harmony, of the matching suit days (yes they did it in matching suits and Beatles wigs and had a dang-amazing Ed Sullivan impersonator doing the MC thing). I think I actually like Please Please Me (my least favorite L-M tune I think) after watching them perform it. Whoever does Paul is not only musically good but he's practically a dead ringer look alike and they all do credible Liverpool accents.

So of course I had to go to the regular show and **double wow**. All eras, amazing! Even stuff like Day in the Life (with two keyboards sans guitars and the bass). I'm really not big on the whole tribute thing, but these guys are incredible musicians, great musically and visually and do it all in a kitch/comedy way while preserving some great reverence. Gotta work there again in March and if they're still around, I'm going back.

Best heckler gag in the show:

Paul: "Anyone here from Las Vegas?" (A few audience members hoot)

Paul again: "Anyone from Liverpool?"

Audience member near the front shouts in a thick New York Accent: "Woo yeah I am"

Paul: "Really?"

Audience member near the front with the thick New York Accent: "Oh yeah, grew up right by Strawberry Fields, can't you tell?"

John: "I think he's got to be lying Paul"

Grinning Paul: "That's OK John, so are we!"

But the 2 groups that, IMHO, nail The Beatles' sound and John's soulful and sometimes gritty voice to a T are The Fab Four and "1964"...
