Me too!
The "If your a bud of Ahmet Ertegun and sold millions for Time Warner" factor
plays out here again. U2, Percy, Pretenders and Buddy Guy all recorded for
Warners-Elektra-Atlantic at one time during thier careers.
The O'Jays are important, they started in the late 50's, had several R&B hits
in the mid-late 60's for Imperial and Bell Records, toured endlessly on the
"Chitlin Circuit" and later were the group that brought the "Philadelphia
Sound" to national prominence in the early 70's.
But why did they pick Percy Sledge, who is just known for one monster hit and
smaller R&B hits that are only known by a cult audience?
And the Hollies, Ventures, Shadows, Jan & Dean, Monkees, Raiders and Turtles
get ignored again.
