my vote for fave lp is kontroversy as well. love it.

the early kinks lps came out on allied records in canada which had
the pye license... sometimes they had uk art/track listings and sometimes
they had the reprise art... the first two kinks lps (allied records
versions) sounded
annoying as they seemed an unmelodic mish-mash to my teenage ears..
especially compared to the early stones
lps - no comparison.

the old reprise greatest hits was a good entry point.... if you can
find the vinyl cheap- buy it.

but kontroversy is the most thematically complete of the first batch
of kinks... and the template
for what was to follow... polygram canada had the pye rights for a
while in the 90s and reissued
kontroversy on the cheapo Elite label....

i am really glad the sanctuary gang are finally getting the kinks
katalog done right - there is some amazing
stuff coming out of that label - i was just drooling at some of their
reggae box sets at Virgin Records just a few minutes ago....
