Ah! The Gary Puckett and the Union Gap trilogy:

"Young Girl"
"Lady Willpower"
"This Girl Is A Woman Now"

YG and LW are dead ringers in song structure and plot development. In
TGIAWN, Puckett ventures into Righteous Brothers/Gene Pitney territory---a
soaring ballad! And all produced by the great Jerry Fuller of Ricky Nelson
"Travelin' Man" fame. Sitting at a table between Gary Puckett and Frank
Zappa at a San Diego nightclub back in 1980 is one of my favorite musical
memories. Saw Gary on the tube a little while back. He still seemed capable
of belting them out.
