When I read this Pitchfork review of Elliott Smith's latest and last, I felt
that although the reviewer made some good points and was quite articulate,
there was a mean spirited tone that put me off and did remind me of Spin.
Anyone remember their nasty skewering (pardon the pun) of "Spilt Milk" by
Jellyfish?

I understand how some are irritated by Smith's persona and ultimately his
choices, but I have personally been quite inspired and moved by his words
and music-in particular his unique guitar picking style and chord changes.
Much like another tragic figure, Nick Drake, I think Smith was treading new
ground with the possibilities of expression with a guitar. Have I left
myself open to flaming here?

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
n.p. Jonesey's Jukebox on 103.1 - Steve Jones is truly hilarious...
