Something I could listen to year round? Seems like the only other
one
that I listen to like this (over and over, almost like background music,
but
in a good way) is an Astrud Gilberto compilation I have had for years.
Beth, I'm just going to chime in and second what Craig said. Pick up
Antonio Carlos Jobim!. I'll echo that the "Verve Jazz Master 13" is a great
place to start. I know he has a 3 CD box set called "The Man from Ipanema"
that I have not heard but have heard it's very good.
Lastly, and maybe not quite what your looking for, Frank Sinatra did a
complete album of Jobim tracks called "It's Francis Albert Sinatra &
Antonio Carlos Jobim". Mine has cool live bonus tracks with Jobim. Anyway,
it's great fun although, but it definitely has a very different feel then
Jobim doing his own stuff.
And yes, Astrud Gilberto with Jobim is about as good as it gets...
