One of the things I noticed was that the color scheme was
(I think) a continuation of the colors in the ring around the
Capitol logo, but they basically just used the orange and
purple colors, not the whole rainbow-type spectrum, and
so it's pretty garish looking, orange and purple...yuck.

Absolutely correct, Bryan. I just remembered something else I noticed looking
over the package: The album cover photos look washed out. And there's
something else: I don't have the discs in front of me, but (I think on Beatles
'65) you can pretty clearly detect the part of the paper that is glued under
the front of the cover. So, I'm guessing they used an old Instamatic camera
with a flashcube to take the pictures.
