I'm a Johnny-come-lately when it comes to Klaatu--I remember the local album
rock station dismissing the Beatles rumor on-air in no uncertain terms at the
time ("rest assured, this definitely NOT The Beatles"), and I probably heard
The Carpernters' cover of "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft" before I
ever heard Klaatu at all.
BUT...I can see how "California Jam" could pass.
