I have been hearing so much about this artist, especially his latest
release,"Eric" that I finally made the effort and purchased a copy.Boy,am I
ever happy I did.Everyone singing the praises of this artist are correct.
It arrives without a cover or booklet[at least mine did]but the music speaks
for itself.13 sweet pop efforts that are a total delight.I have been through
this cd 4 times in an evening and a morning and it's already in my head.Lots
of chiming acoustic guitars, lovely harmonies, and songs with hooks
galore.Every song works magic but three stand out immediately."My lucky
Day"is the cut everyone mentions and it's a charmer.I also cling to the
cascading harmonies of "Where did I go Wrong".But my personal favorite after
my initial spins is "Milk carton ad"-when this song kicks in,it's chills for
me.And if I listen another time I'm sure "Next to nothing "will take top
honors.
"Girl I don't have a lot of money
But I've sure got a lot of honey..."
That's just a sample of the simple, innocent lyrics that work perfectly with
the melodies. The obvious influence here are the Beatles-that is made clear
by the artist. But this album stands on it's own as one of the best pop
releases of the year by a mile.It is perfect for this list.
If nothing else,it will make a great holiday gift for the Beatles/pop fan
that has everything.
Seek it out-David's web site will soon be up and running.Try
davidgrahame.com to see-it gives a link to cotact the artist. That is how I
got mine.
