I saw the Rolling Stones in Raleigh, NC about the same time. There
was a welded-wire fence (those 2" x 4" rectagle types) in front of the
stage and cops arms-length apart in front of that. I was in the balcony
stage right just a short jelly bean toss away, which what many of the
girls brought along, since George H. (I think it was) had just recently
spoke of his love of such. The R.S.'s were good though not great, though
warm ups The Embers (NC's best live band at the time - what would be
called Beach Music now) and The Shirelles blew them off the stage
musically. Brian Jones was on our side of the stage, and I have to
state that along with The Byrds as a whole, The 4 Tops, The Temptations
and Tom Jones, was the sharpest dressed performer of the 60's.

Never saw the Beatles or Otis Redding either, but did see Buffalo
Springfied and the original Procol Harum lineup.
