I respectfully disagree. While the album is not perfect, I think American
Triangle, Original Sin, The Ballad of the Boy In The Red Shoes, and This
Train Don't Stop Here Anymore had hooks galore.

I swear--as I'm writing this, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting is playing
as I play out my three-day pass listening to Sirius 14. Timing is everything.

But I digress. I agree with Mark about Songs from the West Coast. I thought it
was a fantastic Elton album, full of hooks, a fully-realized, mature take on
EJ's 70s heyday. If you want to talk about bad Elton albums, go back to the
late eighties--can anyone get through Ice on Fire? Not me, but I'm sure that
collection has its fans.

In my opinion, Elton remains a viable artist, and in an era of lightweight
recording "artists," I'm glad he's still around, in the game.

Speaking of still being around and in the game, I love the snippet of U2's new
song Vertigo that's in that iPod commerical on TV. I'm not the biggest U2 fan,
but I know when I hear killer, and that song is killer. Why, it's Bono-rific!
