Okay sure, we might be a little sleep-deprived. But in the wake of Boston's
2nd annual International Pop Overthrow festival this past week -- five nights
of fabulous pop from over 35 bands -- we're keeping the pop party going with
an action-packed and star-studded month of shows. So we'll cut right to the
chase...

TOMORROW NIGHT!! - TUESDAY NOVEMBER 9th
PARADISE LOUNGE, BOSTON MA
A killer triple bill, featuring:

BC CAMPLIGHT (http://www.bccamplight.com)
Sweet, sweet pop in the tradition of Todd Rundgren and Ben Folds Five. If you
missed his recent set at TT the Bear's, this is your chance to catch this
rising star live in an intimate setting. Hear these songs once and you'll be
humming them in the shower forever. Seriously.

MIGHTY PURPLE (http://www.mightypurple.com)
After ten years as a unit, Mighty Purple's live show comes together in that
way that only experience can impart -- a casually tight show filled with
musical improvisation and humor. Tons of personal history, subtleties,
dramatic events, and lore form the substance beneath their deceptively simple
songs.

SUDDEN EASE (http://www.suddenease.com)
These local stars have been featured on MTV and have shared stages with
national acts as huge and diverse as Howie Day, Jump Little Children and Norah
Jones. Their sound moves effortlessly between infectious Beatle-pop and modern
mainstream Foo-Fighters-style rock, and it will move you.

Come for the early-bird menu specials, stay for the music. What better way to
spend a Tuesday night? See you there.

Tuesday, 11/9
The Paradise Lounge
969 Commonwealth Ave, Boston
Doors at 8pm, admission $8, 18+

-------------------------------------------------------------

THURSDAY NIGHT - NOVEMBER 11th
THE LIZARD LOUNGE, CAMBRIDGE MA
BOSTON POP UNDERGROUND SHOWCASE:

AMY MILES (http://www.amymiles.net)
CMJ described Amy Miles this way: "One part cynical spunk, one part sass, a
twist of Liz Phair and a dash of Kim Deal." Can you imagine a more tantalizing
musical concoction? We can't. Come get a taste when Amy and her band perform
the dark, eclectic pop songs from her brilliant debut cd, "Dirty Stay-Out,"
for her Boston Pop Underground debut.

JEDEDIAH PARISH (http://www.jedparish.com)
Mighty mighty Jed Parish, the lone wolf rock'n'roll jack-of-all-trades, graces
our fair city once again. He will of course bring along his powerhouse vocals,
his brilliant lyrics, his rapier wit and unparalleled showmanship, and copies
of his breathtaking new cd, "Torch and Swan." He may even bring along a friend
or two. Jed never fails to enthrall an audience, so if you like to be
enthralled, don't miss this.

THE JELLYBRICKS (http://www.jellybricks.com)
The Jellybricks are coming, and they're bringing enough bright and shiny
high-energy power pop to light up the Boston skyline. If you're a fan of
crunchy guitars, soaring choruses and crafty arrangements, you'll find a lot
to love here. Their new cd "Power This" has invited comparisons to Matthew
Sweet, Cheap Trick and Fountains of Wayne. Come see for yourself.

ALL THIS AWESOMENESS for just seven bucks. See you there!

Thursday, 11/11
The Lizard Lounge
1667 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge
Doors at 9pm, admission $7, 21+

TUESDAY NIGHT - NOVEMBER 16th
THE PARADISE LOUNGE, BOSTON MA
CANDY BUTCHERS MIX TAPE

Okay. By now you've surely heard about, read about or otherwise become aware
of these shows. They've generated quite a bit of buzz, and much of it is
linked from our website, at http://www.bostonpopunderground.com. In case you
haven't heard, the format works like this: Mike Viola of the Candy Butchers
plays host to an ever-changing cast of special guests. Mike and friends each
perform a set of original material, and then they mix things up with some
ensemble cover tunes and some moments of musical mischief/mayhem that must be
seen to be believed. The whole thing is loose, relaxed, hilarious and
magical.

This month we've got some truly amazing guests: the lovely and immensely
talented Merrie Amsterburg, with guitarist Peter Linton, and Boston's very own
Lennon and McCartney: Dave Aaronoff and Corin Ashley, of the Details (and the
late, great Pills). And you never know who'll be hauled out of the audience to
join in -- some of the usual suspects include Bleu, John Powhida of the Rudds,
and Mike Gent of the Figgs. Now imagine all these folks together on one stage,
jamming on "Purple Rain." Can you imagine it? Don't even try, because the
reality will surpass it. Come see for yourself.

Tuesday, 11/16
The Paradise Lounge
969 Commonwealth Ave., Boston
Doors at 8pm, admission $8, 18+

-------------------------------------------------------------

Coming in December: Boston's own Mittens (seasonally appropriate!) with
Stargazer Lily and Sean Altman... and a whole lot more. And in January, a
super star-studded CARS tribute cd release show. Stay tuned!

Thanks to one and all for listening, and for coming out to the shows. In the
spirit of Thanksgiving, we'd like to take a moment to express our deep
appreciation and gratitude for your continued support of our little (but
growing!) pop scene. See you at the shows... starting TOMORROW NIGHT!

xoxo,
BPU
