Well, actually, the noun's declension isn't what was at issue, but rather
its case. There are five declensions of nouns, and "mundus" belongs to the
second declension. That declension dictates the endings for each case --
nominative, genitive, ablative, accusative, and dative.
I wish my brain had more useful information cluttering it up.
