Sly was a massively talented artist with the sense to put together a
community of superb creative musicians (Larry Graham anyone?) of mixed
races and genders and get the best out of them all. It's incredibly sad
how Sly deteriorated into his present state but it absolutely does not
detract from his once brilliant output. He was, in musical terms, the
next logical step from James Brown.
