As long as we have George Stienbrenner out spending every other team (along
with other owners who follow his lead), greedy players and agents who want the
best deal they can get, along with a iron-fisted players union that has won
every labor battle since the mid 70's we will have this huge payroll disparity
between large and medium/small market teams.

I grew up a Kansas City Royals fan in the 70's and 80's and I'm saddened to
know that KC, like the Pirates may never win another World Series. They have
had to give up superstars Carlos Beltran and Johnny Damon because they couldnt
afford to pay them big bucks. There's been rumours for years that the current
owner trust there wants to move the team somewhere else (Memphis).

I have to give credit to the Twins who have miraculously kept finding ways to
win big with a tiny payroll and a lineup of mostly rookies and cheap castoffs.
