You know, we're all so appalled about the lip synching, but in this 
genre-- 
the dance pop thing where the performers wear the mics on their heads and 
do
elaborate dances-- its the norm.  Janet Jackson, Britney, Xtina-- you 
can't
do the kind of athletic show these people do and still have the wind to
sing.  I've actually seen Janet Jackson.  I gather most of the songs were
vignettes to recreate her videos.  I don't think anyone cared about how 
she
was live, save for, they wanted it to sound like the records (and look 
like
the videos).  A whole different appeal.
