These thoughts come from those in Toronto who also knew Greg:

GARWOOD WALLACE
(of BOMB Records band TWITCH and floor manager at Sam The Record Man on
Yonge St.):
"I remember prized copies of Bomp! magazine being passed from musician to
musician in the late 70s as almost holy scriptures circulating amongst the
faithful in a dark time. Mr. Shaw was always telling us
about all these exciting bands and players all over North America who were
trying to keep the pop banner flying. This was well before the big labels
started calling the stuff "New Wave" and I recall it made many of us feel
less alone in our pursuits. And what a breath of fresh air after the
outright gentrification of Rolling Stone, etc.

Every once in a while rock 'n' roll must rejuvenate itself by returning to
the garage and basement from which it sprang. Greg Shaw never saw this
process as a devolution and we should be thankful we had him there rooting
us all on."

LARRY LEBLANC
(Canadian columnist of Billboard Magazine and former Q107 radio show host)
"I am devastated. Greg and I were buddies going back to the Bomp days. I had
him on my old radio show on Q. I was tight with that circle in those
days..guys like Dave DiMartino, Dave Marsh, Toby Goldstein and Lester Bangs
at Cream; Ben Fong-Torres and Paul Scanlon at Rollingstone; and various
cirtic/collector guys like Greg. he was the fucking coolest. He was actually
older than you think...probably about 56 or 57. He just looked so damn
youthful. We talked a few years ago but we didn't keep in touch. I think Cam
Carpenter stayed in touch with him. Greg was in Toronto a few times because
he loved the B Girls and put out their records. Shit, shit, shit. Life...."

DAVID (STEINBERG) QUINTON:
(former drummer for THE MODS, THE DEAD BOYS, THE JITTERS, STRANGE ADVANCE)
"I'm so saddened by this news. Frank (of BLUE ASH/DEAD BOYS) and I have been
recently working closely with Greg on the Stiv Bators re-issues and the
upcoming Bators tribute project. In fact, Frank just mentioned to me on the
phone a few days ago that Greg hadn't called him back on something - and
this was unusual...I just can't believe this - this is really true??? He was
such a gentle guy."
