I lucked into seeing the Ashlee Simpson debachle on TV last night.
It was hilarious!
I just stared at the screen for a minute, not believing what I saw. The
embarassment was washing off the screen..
I hope she has the nerve to continue propogating the ruse. Her band tried
to save her lame ass by playing the initial song ad-lib. You can hear it
clearly on the mpegs, where they switch songs awkwardly.
I'm sure we've
all seen such pathetic events in smaller venues.
I remember in NYC, in a relatively small nightclub actually, I once saw a
band lip-syncing, and if that weren't bad
enough, they HIRED a group of 10 very attractive models to stand in the
front and scream like crazy for them. It was sadly obvious when they all
showed up together, went to the front and acted crazy, then walked away
calmly back to their awaiting taxis. I talked to one of them outside who
bragged that they had been paid onehundred dollars each for the 2 minute
appearance, arranged by their agency.
It was all for the benefit of a few A&R guys (who never showed up by the
way)
*sigh*
