John Peel was the kind of media figure that we all need, and that I
would personally cite as an influence in my media career. A rare and
sadly - increasingly scarce example of the soul inside the machine.
You won't see many like him in corporate radio and only a handful of
folks like NPR's Nic Harcourt and Chris Douridas still exist. That
rare combo of professionalism and naivete. To quote Captain
Beefheart "If you got ears, you gotta listen".

John's probably up there in Heaven, plugging in the multi-track and
getting a level check on Gabriel's horn for a celestial Peel Session.

Here's to the lovers of music and the songs and sounds in their
hearts and minds.

Paul.
