Hey folks,

Thought I should share a musical discovery that I should have encountered
years and years ago....the Warner Reissue of Marshall Crenshaw's debut
album.

The first MC album I ever got was Good Evening back in '89 and I totally
loved it. From there I worked my way back through most of his '80s catalog,
and enjoyed it all, with highlights like Downtown. And I picked up a 90s
album called Miracle of Science that's probably the best of all. But after
all that, I never got his debut.

Well, a couple days ago I saw his debut in a used CD store...it's the recent
Warner reissue with tons of bonus and live tracks.

This album really is amazingly energetic and fun and melodic and uplifting,
and it's no surprise Rolling Stone gave 4.5 stars when it came out. It
really has a retro feel to it....a lot of Buddy Holly or something. Lots of
cool '50s era strat guitar parts, but there's a definite New Wave vibe
lurking in there too. His voice sounds great...very very youthful.

I've always heard that this is a essential power pop release, so if any of
you are like me and haven't bought it yet, I'd recommend it highly. And get
the reissue so you can hear his awesome home demos of songs like the
gorgeous "Starlit Summer Sky."

Rock on.
