Well the real writer should put the song out instead of selling it,
then. All parties know what's in it and what's going to happen. Or,
they should.
And I assume you mean Elvis Presley - I thought everyone knew he
barely sang OR wrote ANY of his own songs - seriously, try finding
one. Hard pressed. All old black R&B songs. Not to say they ain't
good. Love Elvis.
Me:
First of all, all of Elvis Presley's material weren't "old black R&B" songs.
Should great writers like Leiber and Stolller or Doc Pomus or countless
other Brill Building writers not have written songs because they weren't
going to release them themselves? Or should the vocal groups of the time not
have taken up performing because they couldn't write. Maybe Frank Sinatra
shouldn't have taken up singing at all, either.
