It's a problem with the emperor's clothes....no one has the balls to 
properly edit these guys while they're being produced. Most particularly in 
the case of McCartney who seems to use too many producers so as to not allow 
anyone time enough to figure out exactly where his weak spots are -- which 
is in meandering arrangements and soft instrumentation (there hasn't been a 
decent McCartney rock song sing "Back To The Egg"). You need singularly 
focused and direction-driven producer calling the shots and getting the best 
material out of guys like Wilson and McCartney who aren't afraid to tell 
these guys when they suck or that half the crap they're writing is pap. I 
feel the same about Stevie Wonder....and it's probably because no producer 
exists that can properly harness Wonder's substantial studio prowess that he 
hasn't recorded a decent album in nearly 25 years.
