For me, I've truly, once again have embraced vinyl in the past 2 years. A
true passion that I pretty much feel "limp" for most CD releases today.
Since going digital w/ a HD player for driving in the car and at the
computer. Any serious and enjoyment listening is mostly by means of vinyl
these days.
What one real surprise that I've rediscovered is the albums I grew up on
when I first became a Beatles fan in the early 80s, and that would be the
American Beatles albums released on Capitol.
I especially love the line up of "Second Album", "Beatles 65" and "Yesterday
and Today". They're always fun listens and using the then hit single works.
Not to knock the original albums as meant for release by The Beatles, but
these albums really have an unique "hot" analog sound, not found on the
proper UK "dry" mixes.
To have these albums in stereo and 80% real mono, in a box set w/ album
cover like packaging is fun. Much better then "Let It be Naked" from last
November. I've been waiting for this release for years now.
I love Beatles music, but what really keeps it fresh, is the choice of how I
want to hear those same songs over and over again, but still keep a fun,
fresh vibe on the listening experience. Only The Beatles offer you such
different flavor of mixes to choose from, and the US albums is one place to
get that fix.
These are only meant to be limited, much like the 30th Anniversary packaging
of "The Beatles" back in late 1998. If this is volume one, then maybe on
volume 3 we'll get CD mono mixes for "Revolver" and "Sgt Pepper", 2 albums
that are made for mono.
