Brian:
Overzealous about the original lineup. I don't think so. I'm just tired of
all the Fans over at the Eric Carmen website making a big issue of the (so
called) original lineup for this Reunion. If you get a chance go read the message
boards. The moderator posted a picture of Raspberries equipment (guitars and a
Raspberries drum kit) sitting in a basement during rehearsals. There were no
band members in the photo; just the equipment. The Fans are going..."pinch me I
must be dreaming" and "I think I'm gonna wet my pants" after seeing the
photo. It's kind of ridiculous to be going "ga-ga" over the Reunion buzz for the
past few weeks. Most of these Fans have never seen any version of Raspberries
perform before.
I had the pleasure of seeing the "Starting Over" Raspberries in Concert
(circa 1974). Ticket stub reads still $3.50. What a deal! This was the recharged
Raspberries with Scott McCarl and Michael McBride adding some bottom end crunch
to Wally Bryson's "stinging guitar" and Eric Carmen's soaring vocals. The band
had a new found musical prowess and put on a high energy show. It definitely
rid them of the teenybopper tag and made me a longtime Fan for the past 30
years.

As far as the Raspberries' reunion show goes - I think Don is just a tad
overzealous in pointing out the "true" original lineup. Who the hell heard
them with John Aleksic other than folks in Ohio back in the day? Much ado
about nothing. Most folks would only know the lineups that actually made it
to record. I agree it's a shame that McCarl & McBride aren't a part of this
as chances are it's only to be a one-off performance IF it happens at all
(as Bruce pointed out there are some combustible egos involved). Don't get
me wrong, I hope it happens, and I hope that they sound good, but it still
sounds like more of a hometown buzz (and ego trip) than anything "for the
fans."
