Hey Audities -

Here are the details on next week's Boston Pop Underground shows... hope to
see you guys out there!

(P.S. - Seriously, if anyone's inclined to videotape any of this, let me know.)

Yes. It's true. We can barely contain ourselves.

Because, starting next Tuesday? Boston Pop Underground is launching an
all-out, no-holds-barred, week-long barrage of pop music the likes of which
this city has never seen before.

Next week, we are attempting the daring THREE SHOW week, and we're packing it
chock full of stars for your entertainment pleasure. Oh, and we're going to
give away some cds -- more on that below. Here's how it breaks down:

TUESDAY OCTOBER 12th: CANDY BUTCHERS MIX TAPE

People, we're pulling out all the stops for this show, and those of you who've
been to a Mix Tape show know there were already very few stops left to pull
out. No song will be left uncovered, no rump left unshaken, no soul left
unstirred. This month, head Candy Butcher and ringleader Mike Viola, with
trusty sidekick and drummer Todd Foulsham, will be joined by enough pop
star-power to light up the Citgo sign. For example: Alex and Devon of The
Animators, who can play literally ALL the instruments, often simultaneously.
Scott Klass, the creative force behind the beloved and critically-acclaimed
Davenports. And for the coupe de grace, Danny Weinkauf -- an erstwhile Candy
Butcher AND Davenport, who has lately been traveling around playing bass in
this other band called They Might Be Giants. We hear they're pretty good. The
Mix Tape theme will be "the days of the week," but the most important day is
THIS TUESDAY because that is when this is all gonna go down. Mark your
calendars.

BOSTON POP HOMECOMING WEEKEND: TWO NIGHTS!

You heard right. We're taking over the Lizard Lounge not once but TWICE this
month. Kicking off the weekend-long pop extravaganza is a triple guitar-god
bill that's already got the tongues of pop fans wagging (we're not kidding
here -- we know of a few folks making travel plans to see this show, and at
least one person wrote in to ask us to please videotape it). To wit:

THURSDAY OCTOBER 14th
Eugene Edwards
Cliff Hillis & the Forward Thinkers
Willie Wisely

Our Thursday night show is HIGHLY recommended for fans of Elvis Costello,
Squeeze, Bleu (who hipped us to Wisely, by the way), Jellyfish... well, you
get the idea. There will be no shortage of sweet harmonies, crunchy guitars
and clever lyrics. You will be rocked. Each of these performers is a huge star
in his own right, but together on the same bill, it's going to be sheer pop
bliss. Don't miss it.

And then on Friday night...

FRIDAY OCTOBER 15th
Adam Marsland & the Chaos Band
The Brett Rosenberg Problem
SNMNMNM!

Surely you've heard of SNMNMNM. Yep, *that* SNMNMNM: guitar, drums, accordion,
tuba. Yes. Tuba. And yes: pop. We know what you're thinking, but just go with
us on this because you won't believe your ears. The kids are all buzzing about
this band, and we're thrilled to host them in the big Homecoming Weekend.
They'll be joined by the hardest-working band in the Boston pop scene: the
Brett Rosenberg Problem (as seen in the WBCN Rock'n'Roll Rumble), and also by
the lovely and talented Adam Marsland (formerly of Cockeyed Ghost), who is
traversing the country with his Chaos Band. This show is going to be a
high-energy pop hootennanny. Totally don't miss it.

BOSTON POP UNDERGROUND - POP HOMECOMING WEEKEND
LIZARD LOUNGE
1667 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge
October 14th & 15th
9pm / 21+ / $7

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FREE CDS?

You were wondering when we were going to get to that, weren't you? Well. If
you've heard of a record company called Not Lame (and really, if you're
reading this email we bet you have) then you already know that Not Lame is THE
single best source of pop music there is. Old stuff, new stuff, famous and
soon-to-be-famous, tributes and compilations -- they've got a HUGE catalog and
it's all in there (http://www.notlame.com/). Bruce Brodeen of Not Lame was
kind enough to ship us a batch of Not Lame Sampler cds, and we'll be giving
them out FREE to you, while supplies last, just to thank you for coming out to
the shows. "Super Charged Flashlight Pops V.II" features pop luminaries such
as Hotsocky, The Waking Hours, Bill Lloyd, The Nines, The Lolas, The
Churchills, Jeremy... lots more. 22 shiny, sparkly tracks in all. Yours free
with admission -- we'll give 'em out till we run out.

*********************************************

We're cookin' up all sorts of shows and surprises for the coming months and
for 2005, but in the meantime we're looking forward to seeing you this week
for the BOSTON POP BLOWOUT. Come out, say hi, be rocked, get a free cd. And
tell all your friends. Help us spread the pop far and wide.

See you at the shows!
xo,
BPU
