Frankly, I am looking forward to hearing the
Raspberries reunion. I think anyone who wonders if
they can still pull it off just need to listen to the
1998 Jim, Dave, Wally, Scott shows. They sounded
great, even minus EC. I would be a little more leary
about a new Raspberries CD (with new material), becuse
who knows if Eric Carmen could still write that type
of song after all these years.....but as a one off
concert? Go for it guys. Many of my favorite bands
don't have all the members still living (Beatles,
Badfinger, Byrds, Beach Boys), so there is no chance
of something like this. The four original (yes I know
about John A....but you really rather have him rather
than Dave?) Raspberries are still healthy enough to
get together to do it....I wish them well. Considering
they will have additional players on stage, do I wish
Scott could be worked in? Sure! Scott's tracks on
"Starting Over" are great. But remember....all the
Raspberries except EC are working class guys....who
knows if Scott could have even put in the time
neccessary to do it if he had been asked given he
lives in Califionia. I wonder if anyone has asked him?
Given that he was a big Raspberries fan, which is why
he sent Eric demos (not knowing Dave and Jim were no
longer in the band)....maybe he is excited to see what
the Raspberries he loved will do at the concert?

As for the original post...if that was Jim
Bonfanti....well in my book he is one of the greatest
rock drummers ever....the drum sound on "Side
3"....awesome! Didn't I read Mike McBride didn't even
play the drums anymore? In any event....the 'berries
were not Molly Hatchett....they only need one drummer.
And if Jim and Dave feel the "Starting Over" band was
not really the Raspberries...that's their right. David
Crosby took three decades to acknowledge Gram Parsons
as a "real Byrd"....plus, I think that the fact that
Jim and Dave did play with Scott in 1998 did give him
his 'props'...frankly, given the quality of Scott's
tracks on his "Play On" solo album, and "Refreshed",
I'd much rather have another solo album from
Scott....Maybe Jim, Dave and Wally (and even Eric)
could pitch in on that.

I hope there will be a live CD and DVD from the
show....given what some bands from VH1's "Bands
Reunited" have pulled off with one day of practice, my
guess is a more practiced Raspberries will do just
fine...and maybe given the advances in live recording
technology we'll get something I have always
desired....a great sounding live Raspberries live
album.
