... has made a complete buffoon of himself! But it WAS funny - I have a
hunch that Mr B. lives life by the Roger Rabbit rule: "Why did you DO
that??" - "Because .... it was FUNNY!!". I'm curious to know which other
list you were meant to be asking the advice from - care to share with the
"Pop Boys"?
Reminded me of the day I sent an email to a friend at work about a really
hot and horny dream I'd had the previous night about a co-worker of ours
(female, in case you are wondering!). Except, in a classic Freudian slip,
I sent it to the subject of the dream instead. Ach well.
Anyways JB, Smile is great, it's not a traditional album of songs (whereas
Pet Sounds is) - more of a musical casserole. Or an orchestral patchwork
quilt made of recurring themes, songs and motifs. It does have a few well
known BB's songs - "Good Vibrations", "Heroes and Villains", so chances are
if you like them you'll like at least some of the album.
I'm not mad-keen on Pet Sounds either, I think it has a lot of fairly weak
tracks (although the best of it is brilliant - God Only Knows, Caroline No,
Wouldn't It Be Nice). I think overall, I prefer Smile. And this, coming
from a guy who likes his pop on the rockier side, y'understand :-)
