Huh.  I guess that's what I get for being a National League fan, missing out on the latest tonsorial mishaps of the Red Sox, though I'll certainly get a refresher course during the postseason.

I now interrupt the discussions of SMILE to let you know that fans of the harder, buzzier, new wavier variants of power pop should all buy the new Features album just as soon as they can.  It's funny: these guys have been knocking around Middle Tennessee for a decade, with largely the same sound (though a late '90s personnel crisis resulted in the current pared-down lineup, with a lot of the melodies the old lead guitarist used to play being transferred to keys and bass), but I'm sure some reviews will accuse them of jumping on the New New Wave train!  Anyway, head to http://www.thefeatures.com for enough sound samples to let you decide if this is up your alley.
