Speaking of Silver Sun...

The newest issue of Spin lists the 10 Must Have Power Pop Albums. A lot of
the regulars show up (Big Star, Posies, Raspberries, Cheap Trick), but they
also included the first Silver Sun record. Can't tell if someone over there
at Spin is really that hip or is just trying to be...

*Spin* is pretty dreadful, but there's always the chance that some writer
who's astute on the subject of power pop managed to slip through the cracks
and make it into that magazine. Audities could spend the next year and a
half debating the 10 Must-Have Power Pop Albums (and probably will, now that
Christopher has broached the subject!), so Silver Sun's eponymous debut is
certainly not a shoo-in. I doubt, too, that it'd get as much universal
support as, say, Big Star's *Radio City* or Cheap Trick's *In Color*. But
it's an outstanding album that I've never heard an Auditeer pooh-pooh. I'd
give it serious consideration for that list myself, although I suspect that
it'd fall just a little bit short on my own list.
