Picked up John Fogerty's new album yesterday "Deja Vu All Over Again"... The title cut is pretty good... yes it does echo the bass line from "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" but purposely because he comparing the VietNam era to the current situation by ringing in echos of CCR's 'Nam period music... The rest of the album is very much laid back when compared to CCR's material or even his 1997 release... I think he should have avoided bringing in Mark Knopfler to play lead on one of the tunes... Knopfler's guitar style turns anybody else's song into one of his own, so now that tune doesn't sound like it belongs on Fogerty's album but rather an outtake from the "Money For Nothing" period... The album, IMO, entertains somewhat but falls flat in many aspect
Anyway, buy this album only if you're a hard core JF/CCR fan, if not I'd say save your hard earned $ for "Smile"...
Cheers,
Miguel
