Just been listening to the re-recorded "Smile". I think it is dead good,
despite Brian's voice not being what it used to be, the backing vox and
instrumentation are top-notch.
Only having heard a couple of poor quality bootlegs + the unreleased stuff
on the Good Vibrations box, I am pretty happy with what they have done with
the new version.
Does anyone know if all the music/lyrics were written back in '67, or was
some of the stuff "brand new"? I am thinking particulary about some of the
shorter links between more well known songs where the music sounds more
like recent BW solo stuff and the lyrics are not as opaque as in typical VD
Parks' style (eg the link between "Wonderful" and "Child is the Father of
the Man").
