The September 2004 Fufkin.com page is up. This month we have the following
record reviews:
Mike Bennett presents full length reviews of The Thrills, Kevin Tihistas
Red Terror, Poster Children, The Futureheads and The Waxwings. Mike also
has capsule reviews of The Sunshine Fix, E.T. Doolin, k.d. lang, The New
Blind Nationals, Jason Walker, Soap Star Joe, The Citizens, Olympic
Hopefuls, Glorious Day, The Marlboro Chorus and a reissue from The Oranges
Band.
Gary Glauber reviews the new Old 97's, A.C. Newman, Fastball, and John
Hoskinson.
Kurt Sampsel takes a look at a reissue from the British band Dave Dee, Dozy,
Beaky, Mick & Tich (anyone remember The Legend of Xanadu?).
Mark Sanders reviews the newest solo record from former Throwing Muse, Belly
and Breeders member Tanya Donnelly.
Not only are The Waxwings reviewed in this issue, but James Baumann has an
interview with Motor City road warriors.
Gary Pig Gold spoke to Harvey Kubernik, a veteran music journalist who has
just released a book of fascinating interviews with folks like Keith
Richards, Chrissie Hynde, Ravi Shankar, Ray Manzarek, Marianne Faithfull and
many other luminaries.
Dave Mustaine seems like a pretty tough guy, not just because of his
chronically sour facial expression, but he is the long time frontman of
Megadeth. So we had to have an equally tough guy to interview him, and
Robert Pally was more than equal to the task.
The title of Kurt Hernons latest piece says it all (well, you have to read
the piece, but its a great title that I cant add to) -- Tommy Stinsons
latest and Jenna Jameson for President. No membership required to read the
Jenna Jameson content....
Last month, Alan Haber vented half his spleen about poor customer service.
This month, read the other half.
Eric Sorensens Further Adventures of a Jangly Music Fan features his takes
on music from John Hoskinson, Tim Lee, compilations of the bands The Mice
and The Dillon Fence, Cloud Eleven, Starbyrd and others, along with more of
Erics Hall of Fame entries. No word on when he is breaking ground on the
museum.
Finally, Kevin Mathews had even less time for his So Much Music, So Little
Time, as hes been boning up on his Brian Wilson, for reasons you will have
to see for yourself. But he still was able to blurb about the new Bullseye
Records Beatles tribute album and releases by Digby, Eric Anders, Mission
Giant, Landing, David Francis, Goodwin, Jason Brody and many more.
We hope you all come and visit us.
