Just gave my first listen to Alva Star's Escalator and my first impression is disappointment.

I absolutely adored (no pun intended) Alligators in the Lobby and was excited to hear the new album.
Its not bad, per se...its just not what I was looking for.  They have really branched out...feeling some Polyphonic Spree vibe and much less of the straight rock-poppy feel of Alligators.  Only one song on the album ("Get Behind Me") struck me as a tune that woulda fit nicely on the last album...

granted this is just the first listen and often things will grow on me over time, but I'm just not getting it right now....anyone else have an opinion?
