RockFour (Israel)

Israeli psych pop quartet RockFour are tough to pigeon-hole. Formed in the
Tel Aviv suburb of Holon, they began playing together during military
service, and developed a repertoire of original songs in Hebrew and English.
Tipping their berets to the Moody Blues, Teardrop Explodes and The Zombies,
RockFour convincingly married The Byrds & Bowie, updating it with 21st
century panache. In 2000, four albums in, RockFour made the controversial
switch to English lyrics – which immediately catapulted them onto the
international scene and branded them Israel’s finest (and only?) rock
export. And they haven’t let up: RockFour is now well on it’s way to
conquering the world with a unique brand of neo-psychedelia and progressive
pop. It’s a mix that works: Rock Four have sold over 30,000 records in the
Middle East and Europe.

2001 was the year RockFour caught the eyes and ears of the North American
media. Rolling Stone Magazine critic Richie Unterberger chose ONE FANTASTIC
DAY (Third-Ear Records) as one of his Top 10 albums of the year; both the
New York Times and the New York Press hyped their live show and the band
went on to be featured on the nationally broadcasted NPR radio show, “All
Things Considered.” Over on the west coast it was the LA Times and Under The
Radar that raved about the band. Headlining many prestigious rock festivals
including SXSW, CMJ and the International Pop Overthrow, the band went on to
sign with guitar pop label, Rainbow Quartz.

RockFour are: Eli Lulai - Vocals, 6 string electric guitar, Baruch Ben Izhak
- 6 & 12 string electric guitars, acoustic guitar, vocals, and occasional
keyboards, Marc Lazare - Bass guitar, double bass, 6 & 12 string electric
guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals and occasional keyboards and Issar
Tennenbaum - drums & percussion.

Jessica Fletchers (Norway)

The Jessica Fletchers formed in Oslo in 1997. The guys had just about enough
of the music scene in Drammen, just outside Oslo, a scene that consisted of
mainly of metal, prog-rock and punk rock outfits, and decided to do
something about it. Having more recently toured with Swedish heavyweights
The Hives, and American indie-psych-pop faves the Apples in Stereo, Oslo,
Norway based Jessica Fletchers are now set to storm the North American pop
scene with their great new record, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE?

Trafficking in a lysergic blend of non-linear jangle and harmony with
splashes of very cool organ and keyboards, and as with most Rainbow Quartz
bands, the Jessica Fletchers are able to make refreshing sense of the ‘60s
sound. The result is an amalgam of such sounds as Kinks / Buzzcocks / early
Bowie. The albums lead-off track Bloody 70's Love sounds like The Mamas and
The Papas and Syd Barrett backed by Bill Nelson armed with his ebow.

Their Influences span The Beatles, Zombies and The Kinks to the less
obvious, like Miles Davis, The Stone Roses, The Tables and Primal Scream.

The Jessica Fletchers are at their very best. Watch out for The Jessica
Fletchers!

The Jessica Fletchers are: Thomas Innstø (lead vocals & guitars), Mads
Innstø (keyboards), Jan Henning Sørensen (drums), Andreas Mastrup (bass) and
Rune Somdal (lead guitar).

The High Dials (Canada)

The new album A New Devotion is a brilliant recording of jangle, psychedelia
and colorful melodies: reminiscent of a psychedelicized Squeeze backed by
The Clash. Their fantastic song structure would surely make the guys in
Teardrop Explodes and Echo and The Bunnymen gush with pride.

The album is about as ambitious as a pop album can get. The 18 songs tell
the story of a mysterious character known only as "Silas" and his attempt to
escape unseen powers in a nightmarish city of the future. Lead singer /
songwriter Trevor Anderson adds: “A lot of the songs are about that magic, a
perfect place we've lost and want back”

The band cites many influences affecting the sonic textures of A New
Devotion: Pink Floyd, Love, CSNY, John Barry, Air, Blur, the Kinks and
Curtis Mayfield. Trevor adds: “We wanted to keep the RnB grooves and rich
harmonies…there's a wider range on this record, some quieter moments too.”

The band has toured Canada three times, and played several high profile
shows in the USA. Past highlights from their live history include shows with
Supergrass, the Sadies, the Gruesomes, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cornershop
and the Zombies!

The High Dials are Trevor Anderson (singer / songwriter), Rishi Dhir (bass
guitar), Robb Surridge (drums), and lead guitarist Robbie MacArthur.
Anticipation for the new record has been building for two years and the band
is psyched to get back to the live music scene.
