Belle & Sebastian do this fairly regularly.  At one of their NYC shows
last year, they brought up a girl and let her pick the song.  She picked
Lazy Line Painter Jane and did the most AMAZING job on Monica Queen's
part.  The crowd went fuckin' nuts and stayed on its feet for most of the
rest of the show.  (The next night, they were only up for a couple of
songs.)  Definitely the highlight of the show . . .

And btw, I sing along at every show I go to (sometimes the harmony
parts), and nobody has seemed to mind so far (or spit watermelon seeds in
my hair).  I haven't caught anybody singing along at one of our shows,
but I can't imagine it wouldn't get us completely stoked.
