I've been on a powerpop kick of late (perhaps to offset my obsession
with the new Mike Keneally all-instrumental album "The Universe Will
Provide"), and I wanted to give a shout-out regarding a couple of
recent releases.

First, the Eugene Edwards album "My Favorite Revolution" is very,
very good. Very solid songwriting, excellent vocals, Great Wall of
Jangle guitars; high energy, fun music. Nothing groundbreaking -- I'm
pretty certain Mr. Edwards wasn't shooting for a King Crimson vibe
with his debut offering -- but an enjoyable effort all around. It's
definitely not as derivitave as I was expecting; maybe I'm not a
devout enough Elvis Costello fan to know better. Regardless, for the
good people on this list, this album should score high marks.

Second, the new Kenny Howes album "Lady Friend" totally rocks. Kenny -
- a jangle pop veteran and a student of all things classic melodic
pop/rock -- delivers a fine, diverse set of tracks on this, his what,
6th album? My favorite tracks are the excellent, hookier-than-insert-
cliche-here title track and the odd, weirdly downbeat "Tell 'Em All".
Fans of classic pop songwriting will find this album a veritible "how
to" textbook. Again, folks on this list should eat this up like
Duncan Hines canned chocolate frosting.

And that, my friends, is all for now.

NP: Mike Keneally -- Parallel Universe

P.S. Note to Pat in Colorado -- GREAT Todd story!!! Awesome!!! Gonna
catch the man next week out here in Agoura. I know you're not digging
the new album, but I will post a little summary report anyway. Love
ya.
