Hey everyone,
Just wanted to mention this show one more time--10
great pop bands are converging on Albany NY this
Friday night for BIG POP BARBECUE 2. Last year, we had
Bleu, the Damnwells, the Trouble Dolls, Ike, the
Stellas and Rocktopus on board (among others). This
year's lineup, while slightly more
regionally-oriented, is even cooler, if I do say so
myself.

Big Pop Barbecue 2
Friday Sept. 3, 7 PM doors
at Valentine's Music Hall
17 New Scotland Ave, Albany NY
518-432-6572 / www.valentinesalbany.com
10 bucks, 10 bands. And some meat and stuff.

* AS FAST AS
  (formerly Rocktopus, energetic '70s pop)
  www.asfastasmusic.com
* THE STAZIAKS
  (reunion of Rudds frontman John Powhida's old band!)
  www.therudds.net/pages/homepage.html
* THE BRILLIANT MISTAKES
  (Squeeze/Costello-like pop from NYC)

* THE INEVITABLE BREAKUPS
  (Weezerish power-pop also from "NYC")
  www.inevitablebreakups.com
* THE DAY JOBS
  (Albany's own mighty power-pop machine)
  www.thedayjobs.net
* FIVE ALPHA BEATDOWN
  (goofy garage-pop from "Iceland")
  www.fivealphabeatdown.com
* THE MATHEMATICIANS
  (goofy math-pop from "Glens Falls"--wait, that's
true)
  www.themathematicians.net
* TRYST
  (NYC band with local roots)
  www.tryst-music.com
* BRIAN BASSETT
  (local wonder boy)
  www.brianbassett.net

That's right. Ten bands, ten bucks. And I'm not joking
about the meat and stuff.

E-mail me for information, directions, or
recommendations.

Oh yeah, the new Suggestions record, "Getting
Through," should be out on October 19. (That's my
band, by the way.) I think this one's actually pretty
good. If anyone is interested in hearing more
about/from the album, let me know. We should have
samples online soon. This e-mail will self-destruct in
one second.

NP: the Posies "Frosting on the Beater," tracks 1-6,
on repeat.
