Hi Billy and Robert--Thanks for the great posts. Billy: the other solution
would be the XM format for this music. But I don't think the KPOP crowd
would go for having to pay for radio.

Robert: Happy Hare has done it all in radio. Consider these achievements:

*Hitchhikes out to LA from Galveston, Texas after graduating from high
school. Soon lands a gig at KLAC and MCs the Big Band shows at the Hollywood
Palladium. This story was confirmed by my mom, a Los Angeles ("Room 222")
High grad (and classmate of Mel "The Velvet Fog" Torme!) who went to these
shows.

*As his fellow radio DJs trash the new "jungle music," Hare proudly raises
the rock and roll banner high. He moves to San Diego and begins his
legendary stint at KCBQ in the 50s. When Clairemont High opens in San Diego,
he brings Richie Valens to school to perform on opening day. "That was in
the fall of 1958. I dropped him off at the airport..and that was the last
time I saw him," said Hare.

*In the 60s, Hare accepts a lucrative contract in the birthplace of rock and
roll radio, Cleveland. He restores order at a Beatle concert that nearly
turned into a riot. That was a pretty cool feat, considering he was working
not for the Cleveland station that sponsored the Beatle show but ITS rival.
In the late 60s, Hare returns to San Diego and becomes the inspiration for
youngsters like Steve Thorn and Robert Mootz.

Robert--One more thing....1360 on the AM dial was the old home of KGB. This
was San Diego's first radio station, and its first star was a boy announcer
named Art Linkletter. Linkletter later hosted "Art Linkletter's House Party
" (Van Dyke Parks played in the house band) where kids said "the darndest
things." KGB was later part of Bill Drake's "Boss Radio" empire. KGB jock
Bill Wade later went to KHJ in LA where he joined the powerhouse lineup of
Sam Riddle and The Real Don Steele.

Thanks again, Billy and Robert...Steve
