I listen to new cds and work with a sticky note beside me and I tick off the track number for every song that sticks out - then I'll rip it for the iPod and the radio show later ... and I made a tick for all but a few songs of the Eugene Edwards cd - which is rare for me. I love the '77 Elvis/Rockpile/Squeeze era of British pop and pub rock so I was happy. I can recognize the influence in the style but never thought any particular song was a re-write of some old song - I think they hold up fine on their own - and I don't think there's a glut of people doing it as well as he does. I'd like 10 in that style every year.
And speaking of picking songs - the Blue Ash is a little tough to distill down to 3 or 4 songs to use on my show - not knowing their history very well, and liking a large percentage of the tracks, can anyone make a suggestion for 'hits' or signature songs for airplay?
Thanks,

NP: The Hives (love the track that turns into a Specter rave-up in the second half)
