It's fairly common knowledge that Johnny's participation in Ramones albums 
post-Road to Ruin was rather minimal.  But if Johnny hadn't invented his 
patented downstroke-power-chord thing in the first place, there would have been 
nothing for his studio stand-ins to imitate.  Indeed, one could argue that Johnny's 
significant contributions to the Ramones ceased sometime around 1978, but 
that the band couldn't exist if he hadn't cracked the code in the first place....
