Hey Everyone,
The IPO Presents fun continues as we return to The Scene on Thursday, August
19, with another power-packed night of pop music! Here's the lineup:
8:30 Matt Hopper (of The Roman Candles): Hes recently moved to LA from the
great state of Alaska, making him the first-ever IPO Peformer to hail from
our 49th state! The Roman Candles were voted Best Band in Alaska in 2003,
and with that you can expect only the best from Matt in the order of short,
catchy pop songs ala Elvis Costello mixed in with a twangy acoustic vibe
that harkens Paul Westerberg, J. Mascis, and the Violent Femmes.

9:15 Severo: Any Smithereens fans among you? Ok, you can put your 1,000
hands down, but then raise them to clap for sometimes Smithereen-Severo as
he and an all-star cast including power pop stalwart Kenny Howes, and Brian
Wilson backing dude/IPO utility man extraordinaire Nelson Bragg perform the
entire Smithereens debut album, Especially For You. Wow!!
10:00 The American Professionals: Main-man Chuck Lindo gave us a tasty
sampler of what to expect from this band when he did a solo performance at
IPO in July. On their Faking It CD, youll hear some of the catchiest power
pop youve had the pleasure of hearing in a long while, and thats high
praise at International Pop Overthrow, believe me!

10:45 Shapes of Race Cars: They reside in what theyve dubbed the center of
The Hipster Kingdom, Silverlake, CA! The sounds on their new EP,
Apocalypse Hurts, have been likened to In Utero-era Nirvana, The Dead Boys,
and Interpol, and if you add a bit of classic 70s album rock to the mix,
youve just about got it! An amazingly dynamic band!

11:30 A Million Seeds: Fans of The Boo Radleys and similar classic
Brit-bands will love the tunes by these guys. Fortunately you wont have to
fly all the way to the UK to hear the band, as theyre based right here in
L.A! www.amillionseeds.com
Admission for the show is $5. The Scene is located at 806 East Colorado St.
in Glendale, and is a 21+ club. Their phone is 818 241-7029, and their
website is www.thescenebar.com.
We hope to see you there!
