I hit half a dozen shops on a recent trip and was generally underwhelmed.
Best by far is Intoxica on Portobello Road. I took the bus, which lets you
off right on the corner. There's a nice little place in Ealing (a tube
ride) that has mostly 50s but the 60s stuff is in great shape and
reasonably priced and the owner is a pleasant chap.

The best option is looking up record fairs, which proliferate throughout
the UK, especially during the summer. I took a train to one in Canterbury
which was small but interesting. I also went to one in Camden which was big
but a mess. I found Camden a touristy, patchouli-soaked collection of junk
and lowlifes anyway, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Pick up a copy of Record Collector as soon as you hit the ground, and look
for record fair ads.

And go to Intoxica, you won't be sorry.
