Although this sheds no light on the subject whatsoever:
A couple of years back, after Big Deal had dissolved and there seemed little
immediate chance of future Yellow Pills discs, I was approached by a new label
to help put together a new series of compilations in the spirit of Yellow
Pills. This never got beyond the casual conversation stage, but it woulda been
fun. (I think John Borack was also approached, and I think Dave Bash may have
been asked, as well, but declined because of his involvement with Not Lame's
IPO discs.)
My sentimental favorite of all YP tracks is inevitably The Flashcubes'
"It's You Tonight," simply because it was the specific catalyst for my
all-time favorite power pop group deciding to record together again.
And, while we can't hope to compete with the beauty, the splendor, the
wonder of Jordan's Yellow Pills CDs, JAM Recordings is currently preparing
for the release of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO, VOLUME 1, the first in a
proposed series of compilations to promote our weekly radio show. The first disc
will feature a mix of new and previously-released tracks by THE FLASHCUBES, DM3,
THE LOLAS, THE JOHNNY POPSTAR LUV EXPLOSION, ED JAMES, JEREMY, CHRIS RICHARDS,
HELLO HELEN (who oughtta be friggin' STARS!!), THE SHAMBLES, JAMIE HOOVER &
BILL LLOYD, THE OOHS, THE FINKERS, THE ROOKS, LUGLESS BOOTH, SEX CLARK 5, THE
FLASHING ASTONISHERS, THE JELLYBRICKS, GARY PIG GOLD & SHANE FAUBERT, LISA
MYCHOLS, CHRIS VON SNEIDERN, THE KENNEDYS, PHIL ANGOTTI & THE IDEA, FLORAPOP and
THE POPDUDES. Should be out sometime pretty soon....
