Hello,
I have lurked on this list for some time. I have greatly enjoyed the
discussions about the recording
industry. Not to mention all of the suggestions on really great pop
music. I am writing to ask you
folks if you know of how many musicians and bands have played tribute
shows for fans? I am asking
because although I do not work in the recording or radio industry, yet I
am working to promote a show
on September 18, in Charlotte, NC at the Visulite Theatre where The
Connells will headline a tribute
show to one of their fans who died suddenly this past april. The fan was
my close friend, Dede Davis.
The proceeds from the show will go to her family.Dede was able to attend
120 Connell shows over eight
years. During that time she became a close friend of the band and many
music fans from all over the
world. She would buy CDs at shows and send them to fans in Sweden,
Ireland, Denmark, Germany,
Japan, and other countries. She did this without any compensation from
the band because she believed
in the music. I know it sounds trite but that is how she was. so, I am
wondering how many bands have
played tribute shows to a fan under similar circumstances?
If you can help me spread the word about this show I have written a press
release and would be happy to
answer any questions. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that you
can make.
