Gotta chime in regarding the most excellent Cloud 11
offering "Terrestrial Ballet". Sometimes jangly, sometimes dissonant,
always melodic, Rick Gallego once again delivers the goods, this time
consisting of no less than 23 psyche-pop gems. Tracking Rick's
progress from his early days as Jiffipop, right on through to last
year's "Orange and Green and Yellow and Near" outtakes, "Terrestrial
Ballet" clearly illustrates Rick's decade-long growth as a
songwriter, melodic craftsman and cover artist extraordinare. Great
artwork (painted by Rick, himself), detailed song-by-song notes by
Rick, liner notes by Auditeer Bryan Thomas, and of course, that VOICE
(Gallego is, feets up, one of my all-time favorite pop vocalists --
pure, sweet, pitch-perfect, almost hallucinatory at
times), "Terrestrial Ballet" is guaranteed to sugar-coat your world
and leave you laughing -- wildly -- in sagebrush. As Bruce Brodeen
would say, "Extremely highly recommended!". Available at NotLame, Jam
Records and CD Baby.
